Industry studies consistently show that a large share of bearing and gear failures trace back to poor lubrication — wrong product, wrong interval or contamination. The good news: this is one of the easiest problems to fix.

Know your three workhorses. Hydraulic oils power presses, injection moulding machines and lifts — viscosity grade (like ISO VG 46 or 68) and anti-wear additives are what matter. Gear oils handle the extreme pressure inside gearboxes and need EP additives to prevent scuffing. Greases are for bearings and joints where oil would simply leak away.

Match the product to the machine manual, not to what is cheapest on the shelf. Using a lower-grade oil in a hydraulic system can cause pump wear that costs fifty times the saving. When in doubt, ask — a good supplier will cross-reference your equipment list to the right specification.

Storage is half the battle. Keep drums sealed, off the floor and away from dust and water. Most 'bad oil' complaints are actually contamination after delivery, not a defective product.

Finally, set a lubrication schedule and stick to it. We supply plants with their full lubricant list — hydraulic oil, gear oil, grease and cutting fluids — on a planned cycle, so maintenance teams always have fresh stock before the old drum runs dry.
